are welcome to join the groups which meet during the service.
Please feel free to take a toddler to the children’s corner
at the back of the church if they are getting restless, but do

CRoW
– The Berkshire Churches Trust Sponsored Cycle, Run or Walk:
13th September. This event which
raises funds for both the Trust and for St.Luke’s is rather
special this year being the grand finale for Ben Darracott. He
has led our team of cyclists visiting local and not so local
churches for many years and would like to hang up his helmet and
see someone else take over next year. This gives us all a
special opportunity to support Ben and the team when the
sponsorship forms come round. It is also an opportunity for
anyone who feels they might be able to take over as leader or
take part as an individual in future years to get some
experience while Ben is still leading. Note that although at
present those we sponsor are all cyclists, it is equally
possible to be sponsored for walking or running between churches
or even for being at St.Luke’s on the day as a welcoming
steward. Contact Ben or myself for further information. Roger
Bevitt.
‘Midsummer
Nights Dream’ Open Air Theatre:
and picnic or buffet supper..
Maidenhead Drama Guild are performing this classic Shakespeare
play in the open air within the grounds of Berkshire College of
Agriculture, Burchetts Green, on Tuesday 22nd July. The
performance begins at 7.45pm although the grounds will be open
from 6pm if you wish to bring a picnic. Alternatively you
can book a pre-theatre buffet supper which will be served in the
main building, Hall Place mansion, which is a beautiful listed
building. The great advantage of this open air performance is
that it will go ahead whatever the weather, as it will be
transferred to one of the lecture theatres if it is inclement.
Tickets cost £11 for adults and £9 concessions; buffet supper
is £13.50 per head. Judging by last year’s experience, the
supper tickets sell out very quickly. If you would like to join
the group from St.Luke’s then please give your cheque (made
payable to St.Luke’s PCC) to Ann Burdett as soon as possible
or tel.631486)
