Thank you for considering St. Luke’s as a possible venue for your wedding. This page gives information that will be useful as you work with us to plan the service; to download a printable (pdf format) leaflet with the same information, click here

Music
Music is an important part of all weddings and sets the tone for your celebration. We have an excellent organ and organists. Please talk to the Director of Music about your musical ideas. The Bride enters to a piece of music, there is usually music during the signing of the registers, the Bride and Groom leave to music. Usually, three hymns are sung. If you have the choir then they may sing a piece before the prayers. The choice can be quite confusing.

Hymns

If you ‘google’ these hymns you will be able to listen to most of them on the internet. You can also get CDs of most hymns and Brides Magazine will have lists / CDs too. You are welcome to borrow a hymnbook from church.

Copyright
If you are having your service videoed you will need to get a copyright licence and show it to your priest before the service. These are very reasonable and can be bought via the website: www.prsformusic.com 

Flowers
Flowers can make the church even more beautiful - even simple pew ends. You may bring in your own flowers or the church can arrange them for you at a charge. Joan Harnby (01628 622140) will advise you.

Printing an Order of Service
If you are planning to have a printed order of service, the normal outline follows below. You only need to print the words in bold blue type. Please let the priest who is taking your service see a draft so that it can be checked before you get it printed.

Prayers
The Lord’s Prayer, traditional version:

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass 
against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.

And finally… a note on parking
You will notice that parking is not always easy at St. Luke’s. We have a small area for disabled parking but try to keep the front of church free at weddings to allow space for the bride’s car, and for photos.

As an eco friendly church we encourage our usual congregation to walk or to use the local borough car parks - less than five minutes away - at the Magnet Leisure Centre. You may wish to let your guests know about the available parking, and even provide them with a map.
